Ace Your Sunday Shop the Dock Style

On the third Sunday each month, April through September, in the Robert Reed Park on the Happiest Seaside Town[1] a passionate group of vendors with their amazing sponsors(the Main Street Merchants & Don's Seafood) gather to bring a one of a kind market. I’ve grew up going to a variety of farmer’s markets, vendor fairs, and craft shows, and I’m here to tell you this event is one you want to add to your bucket list.

We will start with how amazing the location is. The Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park[2] is as magical as is sounds. There is a free town parking lot across the street, after parking you will find yourself roaming the Historic Downtown District of Chincoteague Island. With so many amazing shops it will be hard to not to get distracted. As you continue to walk Main Street you will stumble upon the statue memorializing Misty[3]. From here you will be able to hear and see the market. Located right on the Chincoteague Channel the view is spectacular. With a pavilion, fishing pier, recreation area, board walk, and the infamous LOVE chairs, it makes the perfect location for this event.

This event offers photography! Have your picture taken with the love chairs, by the bay, or action shots during the event. These photos are all available for purchase from the photographer. How cool is that! Shop the Dock also offers special events such as Easter Egg Hunts, LIVE music from local musicians, free kids crafts, and games for the whole family. You guys I haven’t even told you about the vendors yet! Depending on the month you can expect to find around 20 vendors. This group is unlike any you have seen at your average shows. Shop the Dock takes the time to make sure there is a wide variety with no repeat vendors. Literally every booth you stop at is completely different than the next.

After an afternoon of shopping my favorite thing to do is to go to Don's Seafood - Chattie’s Lounge[4]. They are one of the sponsors for Shop the Dock and offer food and drink specials during the event. It’s a great place to relax or leave your husband while you go shop. I recommend the whole menu and the Loaded Bloody Mary makes for a perfect well-rounded lunch. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, it is a must try!
